An internationally recognized pioneer in his field and double board-certified in dermatology and dermatopathology, Dr. Cockerell has been practicing medicine since 1986. He is currently the Founder & President of Cockerell Dermatopathology and the Program Director of the Health Education Services dermatology residency program sponsored by the Lake Granbury Medical Center. Also, Dr. Cockerell sees patients a few days per month to assist with resident training and to keep his clinicopathological skills sharp. Dr. Cockerell has held numerous leadership positions within several highly regarded medical associations. Most notably, he served as the President, Secretary & Treasurer and a member of the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Dermatology, President of the Texas Dermatological Society, and President of the Dallas Dermatological Society. High, MD, MEng, a native of Colorado, is the Vice Chairman of Dermatology, and the Director of both the Dermatology Clinic and the Dermatopathology Laboratory at the University of Colorado. He is board-certified in Dermatology and Dermatopathology. He also has certification in Tropical Medicine & Hygiene. After practicing as a chemical engineer in the industry, Dr. High returned to medical school to receive his medical degree from the Mayo Clinic School of Medicine. Dr. High completed his dermatology residency training at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, serving as Chief Resident. He completed his dermatopathology fellowship at the University of Colorado. Dr. High is appointed to the Departments of Dermatology & Pathology at the University of Colorado. His research laboratory was the first in the world to discover gadolinium in the tissue of patients with nephrogenic systemic fibrosis. Dr. High also has a degree in law from the University of Denver. He has authored 4 textbooks, 40 chapters, and more than 80 medical papers.     Melissa Costner, MD < Back Melissa Costner, MD Faculty A Texas native, Dr. Melissa Costner began her journey as a Dermatologist at UT Southwestern Medical Center, where she completed her training as a resident in dermatology, and where she developed an early and enduring interest in the skin manifestations of autoimmune disease. Under the tutelage of Dr. Richard Sontheimer, an icon of dermatology, she honed the special skills needed to take effective care of patients with conditions such as lupus dermatomyositis and scleroderma. After graduation from her residency, Dr. Costner joined the faculty at UT Southwestern in 1997 and quickly established a reputation as a specialist in the skin manifestations of rheumatic diseases. She went on to write book chapters, contributed to research, published new findings, and participated in the development of clinical guidelines for dermatologic manifestations of rheumatologist disease. She is one of the founding members of the Rheumatologic Dermatology Society. In 2007, Dr. Costner further expanded the scope of her influence on the Dallas community by entering private practice, developing collaborative care pathways with the DFW metroplex physicians for the care of patients with autoimmune diseases, including psoriasis and eczema. Dr. Costner also supports a number of general and specialty physicians with her expertise in skin manifestations of several other general and specialty diseases. PS Home

    Philip LeBoit, MD < Back Philip LeBoit, MD Faculty Professor of Pathology and Dermatology Division Chief of UCSF Dermatopathology and Oral Pathology Service After training in Anatomic Pathology at the University of California, San Francisco and in Dermatopathology at both New York University (under the late Bernard Ackerman, M.D.) and at New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center (with N. Scott McNutt, M.D.), Dr. LeBoit founded the UCSF Dermatopathology and Oral Pathology Service in 1987, with the goal of bringing academic expertise to a larger patient base than that of traditional university-based dermatopathology sections. Dr. LeBoit's investigative work includes the delineation of granulomatous slack skin as a lymphoma, the first comprehensive description of bacillary angiomatosis and bacillary peliosis hepatis, the development of the concept of palisaded neutrophilic and granulomatous dermatitis, the application of first morphometric and then molecular studies to melanocytic neoplasms and the initial description of nephrogenic systemic fibrosis. Dr. LeBoit has written over 250 peer reviewed publications, over 25 book chapters, and co-edited the dermatology textbook, Cutaneous Medicine and Surgery. Another major project for the World Health Organization was editing the WHO "blue book" Skin Tumors. Dr. Massi and Dr. LeBoit authored the textbook, Histologic Diagnosis of Nevi and Melanoma, the second edition of which was published in 2014. Dr. LeBoit has given over 400 invited lectures in North and South America, Europe and Asia. Dr. LeBoit served as editor-in-chief of the American Journal of Dermatopathology from 1997-2006, served as an associate editor of the Journal of Investigative Dermatology, and am currently an editor of Seminars in Cutaneous Medicine and Surgery. Dr. LeBoit's service to the International Society of Dermatopathology includes membership on the executive committee and terms as Secretary-Treasurer and as President of the Society (2004-7). Dr. LeBoit have received the Ackerman Award from the International Society of Dermatopathology, and am the only person who has received both the Founders Award and the Pinkus Award from the American Society of Dermatopathology.     Lawrence Eichenfield, MD < Back Lawrence Eichenfield, MD Faculty Dr. Eichenfield is chief of pediatric and adolescent dermatology at Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego and professor of dermatology and pediatrics and vice-chair of the department of dermatology at UC San Diego School of Medicine. He is board certified in dermatology, pediatric dermatology and pediatrics. After earning his medical degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, Dr. Eichenfield was a pediatric resident and chief resident at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. He then completed his dermatology residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Along with longstanding expertise in atopic dermatitis, acne, psoriasis and other inflammatory skin conditions, Dr. Eichenfield has interests in neonatal dermatology, vascular lesions, laser surgery and rare skin disorders. He has authored more than 400 journal articles, chapters, abstracts and books, and has served as the senior editor of "Neonatal and Infant Dermatology," published by Elsevier, as well as "The Eczemas." He served as editor-in-chief of Pediatric Dermatology for 12 years and currently serves on the editorial boards of multiple journals and periodicals. Dr. Eichenfield has held multiple leadership positions, including co-founder and co-chair of the Pediatric Dermatology Research Alliance, co-chair of the American Academy of Dermatology Guidelines for Atopic Dermatitis, co-chair of the American Acne and Rosacea Society/American Academy of Pediatrics Pediatric Acne Recommendations for Diagnosis and Treatment, member of the Expert Panel Member of the NIAID Guidelines for Diagnosis and Management of Food Allergy, Scientific Advisory Board of the National Eczema Association, and director of the Rady Children's/UC San Diego Eczema and Inflammatory Skin Disease Center. Additionally, he has served in leadership roles on guidelines and consensus statements for multiple dermatological conditions, including acne, rosacea, atopic dermatitis and psoriasis.
