Melissa Mauskar, MD < Back Melissa Mauskar, MD Faculty Melissa Mauskar, M.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Dermatology and the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. Her clinical practice is focused on complex medical dermatology and vulvar dermatoses. She is the founder and Director of the Gynecologic Dermatology Clinic at UT Southwestern, a tertiary referral center for gynecologists, dermatologists, and primary care physicians serving Texas and surrounding states. Dr. Mauskar earned her medical degree at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. She completed her residency in dermatology at Georgetown University Hospital and MedStar Washington Hospital Center and is certified by the American Board of Dermatology. In addition to general dermatology, she specializes in treating vulvovaginal conditions such as lichen sclerosus, lichen planus, lichen simplex chronicus, and pelvic floor disorders. She has a passion for educational initiatives to improve the recognition, diagnosis, and treatment of vulvar dermatoses. Dr. Mauskar serves as part of the Parkland Health vulvology clinical faculty, working alongside her gynecology colleagues to provide multispecialty collaboration for patients with complex vulvovaginal conditions. She is also an active member of the Dermatology Inpatient Consultation team and staffs the department’s High Complexity Clinic, where she specializes in treating patients with severe cutaneous drug eruptions. Her research interests include lichen sclerosus as well as Stevens-Johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis. Her research is supported by the Dermatology Foundation, and she has been involved in site-specific planning of a NIH UO1 phase III prospective multi-institutional study comparing medical treatment to supportive care for Stevens-Johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis. Dr. Mauskar lectures worldwide on vulvar dermatoses. She is a fellow of the International Society for the Study of Vulvovaginal Disease (ISSVD) and serves on the Board of Directors for the North American Chapter of the ISSVD. As an advocate for women’s health initiatives, she aims to improve the quality of life for women and their interpersonal relationships and empower patients to speak more freely about their conditions. David Goldberg, MD, JD < Back David Goldberg, MD, JD Faculty David J. Goldberg, MD, JD is recognized nationally and internationally for his innovative work with skin lasers, cosmetic dermatology and non-invasive facial and body rejuvenation techniques. A board-certified dermatologist who has been in practice since 1985, he has treated patients and taught doctors throughout the world in the use of these cutting-edge technologies. Under his direction, Skin Laser & Surgery Specialists of New York and New Jersey, a division of Schweiger Dermatology Group, has been a pioneer in making skin laser and cosmetic dermatology technologies available to the public. Dr. Goldberg earned his medical degree from Yale University. He completed his dermatology residency and dermatologic surgical fellowship at New York University Medical Center. He is a clinical professor and former director of Mohs Surgery and Laser Research in the department of Dermatology at New York’s Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.Dr. Goldberg has published over 160 academic papers and has contributed to over 15 academic textbooks. He has authored textbooks on laser dermatology, laser hair removal, laser facial rejuvenation, photodamaged skin, skin wrinkle fillers, acne, rosacea, unwanted fat and cellulite. He has also co-authored two books for the general public: Light Years Younger and Secrets of Great Skin. Dr. Goldberg is active in professional societies and was elected president of the American Society for Lasers in Medicine & Surgery. He has also served as chairperson of the Ethics Committees of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society for Lasers in Medicine and Surgery, and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. He has sat on the board of directors of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society for Lasers in Medicine and Surgery, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery and the International Society for Dermatologic Surgery. He has also served as a co-vice-president of the Skin Cancer Foundation. Dr. Goldberg was the first recipient of the prestigious Leon Goldman award, named after the founder of laser surgery. Additionally, Dr. Goldberg has received the following accolades: One of the “Top Ten Laser Surgeons in the U.S.” by Self magazine One of the “Best Doctors in America” by Woodward/White, Inc.
